In the Name of God, The Compassionate, The Merciful

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 11/5/2009

The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) condemns the cowardly and unforgivable attack at Fort Hood and expresses heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.

No religious or political ideology could ever justify or excuse such inexcusable and indiscriminate violence. The attack was horrible in that it targeted the all-volunteer army that protects our nation and our precious freedom. American Muslims stand with our fellow citizens in offering prayers for the victims.

Several thousand Muslim men and women faithfully serve in the United States military, including ADAMS community members who have served honorably and loyally. Two of our community members who served in the US Military were killed in action in Iraq. ADAMS held Funeral Services for them and they were buried in Arlington Cemetary. We appreciate their service, as well as the service of all dedicated volunteers committed to our country.

A press conference with national Muslim leaders to address this incident will be held tomorrow morning(Fri Nov 6, 2009). Time and location will be announced later tonight.

National Statement from Islamic Society of North America: Click here

Islam holds the human soul in high esteem, and considers the attack against innocent human beings a grave sin. ADAMS states clearly that those who commit acts murder and cruelty in the name of Islam are not only destroying innocent lives, but are also betraying the values of the faith they claim to represent.

We repudiate and dissociate ourselves from any Muslim group or individual who commits such brutal and un-Islamic acts. We refuse to allow our faith to be held hostage by the criminal actions of a tiny minority acting outside the teachings of both the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
